Master’s of Science in Occupational Therapy with Concentration in Productive Aging, mentored by Dr. Carolyn Baum.  Graduate studies included research and clinical experience.  Thesis: Coping with Parkinson’s Disease.  Adult and geriatric experience working as an OT at assisted living facilities, independent communities, home health and mental health. Consulting experience at group homes and schools in Raleigh, NC.  Experience at Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN Physical Medicine Rehab department as an OT student, client case load included all ages.

Included assisting the therapist in using modalities such as ultrasound and electro-stimulation.  Also includes assisting in exercises involving machines and Theraband materials.  10 hours

 

Inclusion aid, South Bay YMCA, CA, summer 2002.

Included being in charge of one child during the summer camp.  126 hours

 

Special Olympics volunteer, Special Olympics Swim Meet, San Diego, CA, summer 2002.

Included timing the races of the participants and setting up the venues for the swim meet.  Encouragement and cheering for the participants is a given.  4 hours

 

Gratiot County Community Hospital, Alma, MI. 2002

Included assisting and observing Occupational Therapists in the Rehab center and the Medical Rehab Unit of the hospital. Most of the assisting included talking to and guiding the patients through a set of exercises after the Therapist described them.

            Included assisting children with Cerebral Palsy to participate in a dance class consisting of ballet, tap, and jazz movements.  The abilities within the class varies greatly.  40 hours

Children's Hospital in Saint Louis Therapy services volunteer Sprin 2006: 50 hours

           Included stocking linens and towels, helping therapists with therapy sessions when needed.  Holding and feeding babies in the NICU.  Organizing paper work for the therapists.  Making evaluation packets for the therapists.  Whatever else the therapists needed or wanted me to do.

Interests and Hobbies

I love dance, art, and learning about other cultures.
